My Current Workout and Health Routine

Health and wellness is something that I am very passionate about, especially since getting back into dancing full time. There is no better feeling than when you are consistently working out and eating right. Now don’t get me wrong– I LOVE fast food like its my job, but I have definitely learned that it is a cheat meal, not an every day habit. Today, I am going to break down what a typical week looks like for me workout wise, as well as my eating habits.
WORKOUT
For the dance team I am on (the Allen Americans Ice Angels), we are extremely fortunate to have an amazing trainer. His name is Sharif and he is the owner of Evolve in Dallas. I had heard about his crazy good workouts for a while before I started going to him and heard nothing but good feedback. Let me put it simply– he will kick your butt more than you ever thought possible. He has us doing workouts and circuits that I never even dreamt of being able to do. He’s THAT good. Never did I think I would see the day that I enjoyed weight training or box jumps, but hey here I am. Evolve offers group fitness classes that vary in times throughout the day. All classes during the week run like circuit training (different workout moves done for a certain period of time (typically 30-45 seconds) and then you rotate to a new move) and incorporate everything from cardio to strength training. What I love about these group classes is how much individual attention you still get, so the workout really can be customized to you and your specific needs. Sharif takes the time to come learn your individual goals and does whatever it takes to help you get there. His dedication to his clients and friends is incredible. Some days we may focus on arms and others it may be a full body workout. Regardless, you will walk out of there so much stronger than when you came in and his workouts show results quick!

I try to go to Sharif’s classes (depending on if they are all booked up or not– he’s a popular guy!) at least 2-3 times a week. I like to do the early morning classes, so it starts my day off on the right foot! It is also much easier to eat clean throughout the day if you start your day with a workout– at least for me! Besides Sharif’s classes, I teach dance every day during the week, so I get a lot of my deep stretching and cardio in then. My secret to long lean muscles: STRETCH! For starters, if you do not stretch it is much much easier for you to be sore and more susceptible to injuring yourself. On top of that, flexibility is a very important part of being in great shape and it helps us ladies not get bulky legs when we workout!
HEALTH AND DIET
I am not going to lie and tell y’all that I am such a healthy eater all the time and these are the meals I eat every day, because that would be a total lie. My rule is to have everything in moderation and not beat myself up if I am craving a cheeseburger or chicken fingers. I mean ya gotta live a little right?! 😂   For me, my rule is 80/20: 80% of the time I eat clean and healthy and the other 20% I indulge in moderation in what I am craving. If I deprive my body of craving the less than healthy food, I will just want it more and that’s when I have a cheat day instead of a cheat meal. As long as I stick to eating healthy for the majority of my day, that’s what matters to me. I keep it pretty simple with  some of these meals:

Breakfast:
EX- 2 eggs, 3 egg whites, blueberries, avocado and a chicken sausage
EX- overnight oats– these are my favorite and you can try different recipes!
EX- oats with fruit and a scoop of peanut butter

Lunch/Dinner:
EX- chicken and lots of veggies
EX- kale or spinach salad with fruit or veggies and some type of meat
Snacks:
EX- Apples and peanut butter
EX- RX Bars
EX- bowl of fruit or veggies

All of these meal and snack options are super easy and simple to make, which is why I love them as my go-to’s (big thank you to Sharif’s wife, Madison, for helping me with some of these meal ideas). Since I do stay pretty busy, I have had to find other healthy alternatives in the case that I didn’t have time to prep a meal. A few of my go to options– RX Bars, grabbing a green smoothie with extra protein, Chick-fil-a salads, ordering grilled chicken and veggies to-go from almost any restaurant. These are just a few of the on-the-go options I have found that work best for me, based on where I am located throughout the day and that also keep me full and satisfied.

I hope some of this insight into my workout and health routine helped you all! I would love to hear you routines and tips! If y’all want to know any additional information about Evolve Dallas or my health routine, don’t hesitate to ask!
